Therapists at HWC

Counselors at HWC are clinically trained licensed therapists and have strong commitment to their Christian faith. They either have, or are pursuing advanced clinical skills. Many clients using HWC prefer to leave faith out of their therapy, but when they do desire Christian faith to be incorporated, HWC therapists can readily do so.

Counselor, MA, LMHC

I enjoy working with people to meet them right where they are and walk alongside them in navigating the difficult places life can bring us to. Most often these difficult places are not of our choice yet even if they are, there can be a beauty in using our pain as a stepping stone to change paths towards growth and healing. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief/loss, marital issues, and general relationship issues. I enjoy working in ways that bring out the strengths of my clients to equip them in the foundation of who they are. We all have our unique way of finding our path in life through building healthy relationships not only with others but with ourselves in the truth of what is rather than living out of what we think life should be.

I am a Christian counselor who believes in partnering with the healing presence of The Holy Spirit. I have a passion for helping people realize their true identity as a Child of God. Counselor, MA, LMHCA

I am passionate about working with individuals and couples to help them process areas where they're hurting and/or stuck to help in moving them toward freedom and empowerment over their life. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and the counselor is a powerful one where forward momentum and growth can take place. My approach is client centered, in that it is most important that the client is learning and gaining the insights in order to promote long-term learning and the ability to make gains independent of the counselor. Counseling is more than just a career choice to me; it’s a calling. I have found lasting fulfillment in life as my relationship with Christ deepens. This is an added area of benefit to my clients in that I have had some spiritual training, as well as have done spiritually focused therapeutic work on myself. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Counseling in 2018 and I have nearly 20 years of experience working with people in a therapeutic manner.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LCSW

I have 25 years of experience working with at-risk youth (12 years old and up), adults, families and couples. I partner with them to help them overcome significant difficulties and trauma from the past, including sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect. I firmly believe that identity (who you are) and behavior (what you do) are two distinct things. Your behavior does not determine your identity. I help my clients to examine core beliefs that are contributing to their current difficulties, to help them to decide which ones are true and helpful, and which ones are not, to bring about true and lasting change. I am a certified EMDR therapist and have also been trained in TF-CBT and Motivational Interviewing. I specialize in helping people work through PTSD, Complex Trauma, Addictions Issues, Sexual abuse and perpetration, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD and relational difficulties, among others. For those who so desire, I specialize in integration of Christian faith into sessions, in a manner that is comfortable for clients at any stage in their faith walk. I believe that as long as you have breath and a pulse, then healing, redemption, forgiveness, growth, maturity, hope and change are absolutely real possibilities for those open to them.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LCSW

With over 15 years working with children, youth and families, I bring therapeutic understanding and experience to our sessions. The decision to seek therapy is not one most people take lightly, and I work with you to provide a comfortable and open environment to share and grow. Along with youth (5+) and families, I also work with individual adults and couples. Having earned certifications in trauma (TF-CBT) and substance use (MATRIX), I also specialize in treating general mood disorders and depression, anxiety, ADHD and impulsivity, oppositionality, grief/loss, and addiction. I enjoy working with families to incorporate parents and children into the therapeutic process together to promote familial cohesion. Having completed a graduate degree in and obtaining licensure as a clinical social worker, I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in psychology. My style of therapy is decidedly cognitive-behavioral, though I incorporate other methods and psychotherapeutic techniques to best meet your needs. As a man of faith, I invite spirituality into our sessions based on your comfort.

Counselor, LMHC

With degrees in counseling from Grace College, I am a licensed mental health counselor with 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have had the opportunity of working with a diverse age group ranging from age 7 to mid 90s. While I see kids (7+) and teens, most of my clients are adults, varying in age and background. I have had extensive experience working with clients that deal with depression, anxiety, autism- spectrum disorder, ADHD, struggles with faith, family members of addicts, postpartum, premarital and marital issues. I have attended advanced trainings in premarital and marital counseling, perinatal mood disorders, TF – CBT and CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). I enjoy the challenges that come from couples work and seeing strides that are made as well as working with young adults as they transition from high school and college. I feel that parents play a key role in their child’s growth and development and incorporate them into sessions to help create lasting change. My therapeutic approach is based off of the need of each individual client. I consider it a privilege to hear your story and walk the journey that you have elected to take by coming to therapy. It is my hope that our time together brings about change and gives each individual the space they deserve to be open and vulnerable.

Psychologist, PsyD, HSPP, MDiv

Depressed? Anxious? PTSD? Marital conflict? Unwanted emotions and the painful past seem to continually create difficulty? These are a few of the reasons individuals and couples come to see me. I help them gain understanding of the underlying factors that drive their present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Bring about healing and transformation of the underlying beliefs, fears, and dysfunctional behavior patterns is the goal. Just understanding and talking about it is not enough. By using advanced training in working with with trauma and relational difficulty I collaborate with clients to help create lasting change.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have a passion for serving individuals, couples, and families primarily using Restoration Therapy, which focuses heavily on healing from generational wounds. Whether your hurt comes from your current or past relationships, trauma, or unknown origins, I would love to come alongside you to figure out the root cause and help you to begin living a more fulfilling life. I assist clients of all ages in working through a range of issues including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, child and adolescent behavior, guilt/shame, low self-esteem, and anger. I incorporate my Christian faith into my counseling approach for those who desire. I also have training in Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to pull from in offering tailored services based on client(s) needs. Typically I would recommend clients younger than 12 to be seen in the context of family therapy in the majority of circumstances and would often incorporate at least some family therapy for all children and teenagers.
